The valence electronic structure of a crystalline La1-xCaxMnO3 (with x = 0.35) film has been studied by means of angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy. Only a small intensity at EF was observed even for the metallic phase. The valence band resonance enhancement was observed for photon energies around the Mn 3p edge. The symmetry character of some of the extensively hybridized Mn 3d-O 2p states in the valence band are assigned based on resonance behaviour and light polarization dependence. The experimental results are compared with a local-density-approximation calculation for the total and partial density of states in the valence band region.
