Taped supervision as a reflecting team

Abstract

The narrative (White, 1986) and languaging approaches (Andersen, 1991; Anderson and Goolishian, 1988) emphasize that change takes place when clients notice a “difference that makes a difference? (Andersen, 1991; Bateson, 1972). Consequently, therapists working from these perspectives target client meaning systems in co-creating competing explanations of a client’s life and life situations. One helpful but often impractical strategy for sharing and creating competing meaning systems is the reflecting team (Andersen, 1991).
