Abstract

Evidence supports an aggressive surgical approach to complications of acute leukemia. Patients for whom such an approach is indicated include those undergoing initial cytoreductive therapy with a goal of achieving complete remission, those in relapse who have a reasonable chance for prolonged survival, and those in complete remission. Three case reports illustrate the benefits of aggressive surgical intervention.
