Single-molecule imaging in solution with total internal reflection excitation

Abstract

Ongoing experiments aimed at imaging individual single-chromophore molecules in free solution near a surface are discussed. A Krypton/Argon ion laser operating at 568 or 647 nm is being used for TIR excitation of Bodipy dye molecules. Experiments are being carried out to compare two different objective lenses and several camera systems.
