Abstract

Self-diffusion coefficients of N,N-dimethylformamide in solutions with polystyrene were measured using the bipolar LED NMR pulse sequence. As a function of concentration (0-70 wt %), the solvent self-diffusion coefficients increased with polymer concentration similar to that in previous studies. As a function of temperature (25°-85°C), the solvent self-diffusion was Arrhenius-like with energies of activation increasing from 10 to 30 kJ/mole with increases in polymer concentration. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 228th ACS National Meeting (Philadelphia, PA, 8/22-26/2004).
