Abstract

Computerized tomographic (CT) head scans of 42 chronic schizophrenic patients were compared with those of 40 control subjects. Differences in the bifrontal and bicaudate diameters, frontal and occipital petalia, and frequencies of cerebral and cerebellar atrophy were then examined in the paranoid and the nonparanoid subtypes of schizophrenia. The findings suggest that schizophrenic subtypes may differ along certain neuroanatomic variables.
