Abstract

Analyses the relationship between domestic market structure and cement importation into the United States, by examining the impact of concentration, technology, scale, costs, and demand on imports into twenty independent regional cement markets for a number of years. By looking at only one industry it is hoped to remove inter-industry effects that may mask the relationship between import share and selected structural characteristics. The use of time series data allows examination of import response to variations in demand over the business cycle. -from Authors
