Abstract

The qualitative results of unconventional grinding depend mainly on the shape and distribution of abrasive grains trajectories on the machined surface. Computer method of grains trajectories visualization enables the theoretical analysis of their distribution in any type of abrasive finishing and kinematics. The estimation of kinematic system, realizing planetary motion and complemented additionally by transportation, is presented in the paper. It corresponds to the working conditions of a wheel head with rotatable abrasive segments. The computer method of such complex machining motion modeling enables the determination the following parameters to obtain constant intensity of allowance removal or minimize the errors of surface shape: • - grains dislocations trajectories, • - speed of displacement on an optional segment of a trajectory, • - dominating directions of geometric structure in any place of the surface, • - distribution of tracks density in a chosen region, • - optimal kinematic parameters of machining. The paper also contains the results of tests over ŁH15 steel grinding with diamond rotatable segments. The tests prove usefulness of the elaborated method for optimal machining parameters determination.
