Jitter-free signal-averaging picosecond x-ray streak camera

Abstract

Using an averaging x-ray streak camera with picosecond jitter pump-probe measurements are performed in which intense ultrashort optical pulse is a pump pulse, that creates solid density Al plasma and another XUV pulse is the probe pulse, that monitor the plasma condition. The experimental results are presented on the observation of heating of Al-film from room temperature at which point it is a degenerate solid to a few eV, when it is becomes a strongly coupled plasma to few tens of eV, when it is becomes a solid-density plasma.
