Abstract

Those of us who assist our clients to develop communication systems that maximize their communication effectiveness often attempt to do so against incredible odds. We cannot afford to have our judgements influenced excessively by the tendency to view either the augmentative communication or the natural speech approach as the sole solution to serve persons with severe communication disorders. Rather, we should provide balanced intervention serves that meet our clients needs given their profile of present and potential capabilities.
