A study is performed on finite-temperature anisotropy of PtCo magnets. A characteristic feature of the magnets is the simultaneous involvement of 3d and 4d/5d atoms, which form the alternating layers of the structure. The atomic composition distinguishes L10 magnets from 3d-based permanent magnets, such as alnico and barium ferrite, and from rare-earth transition-metal intermetallics, where the 4f and 3d elements realize specific tasks.
