Electrical and mechanical properties of copper-chloride-intercalated pitch-based carbon fibres

Abstract

Pitch-based fibres (and single crystals of graphite) were heat-treated to 3000 degrees C and intercalated with copper chloride by chlorine vapour transport. Electrical resistivity and mechanical properties were reported. In high magnetic field at 4K the fibres exhibit Shubnikov/de Haas oscillations.
