Diagnosis and treatment of non-hodgkin’s lymphoma of adults

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (NHL) represent a diverse group of neoplasms with many different clinical presentations, associated laboratory abnormalities, responsiveness to treatment, and clinical outcome. These neoplasms arise from either B or T immune cells and demonstrate variable aggressiveness. Diagnosis is made from a range of clinical presentations ultimately leading to a lymph node biopsy interpreted by an experienced hematopathologist. Treatment varies based on cell of origin and usually involves combination chemotherapy and immunotherapy. This chapter will attempt to provide a thorough overview of the major subtypes of NHL and the key treatments to date.
