Abstract

This paper reviews the history, indications for surgery and natural pathogenesis of vascular atherosclerosis, with an emphasis on current status of grafts, and current results in thoracic, thoraco-abdominal, aortic, and peripheral venous surgery. The repair of aneurysms is discussed and the importance of antiplatelet pharmacology in the post-operative period is reviewed.
