Challenges in development of an undergraduate M&S program in electrical engineering

Abstract

In this paper, we present the challenges involved in the development of an undergraduate modeling and simulation (M&S) program in electrical engineering. We provide responsibilities, educational requirements, and a suggested curriculum for establishing such a program in electrical and computer engineering departments. Evaluation and assessment criteria for accreditation of such a program by an appropriate authority are also discussed. This work is part of a course, curriculum, and laboratory improvement project called Undergraduate STEM Education Initiative in Creative Educational Innovations for Electrical Engineering Students (USE-ICE) that has been supported by the National Science Foundation.
