Abstract

DNP is an active compound of considerable phytotoxicity to both plants and animals. It does not appear to interact very strongly with most soil constituents, and its dissipation is highly dependent on the presence of specific organisms and the prevailing reaction conditions, particularly pH. Therefore, careful management is necessary if DNP is a predominant component in land-applied waste materials.
