Atrioventricular conduction by means of a low resistance metal bridge

Abstract

Although cardiac pacemakers have proved to be an effective method of treating disturbances in atrioventricular conduction, these instruments have some undesirable characteristics. Perhaps most important, electromechanical atrioventricular dissociation still exists after most pacemaking systems are implanted. Experience with the construction and experimental evaluation of a metal bridge to reestablish atrioventricular conduction is reported.
