Abstract

In most medical schools there is a need for teacher training courses designed specifically for medical educators. The Teaching Workshop for Medical Educators is a course designed to provide participants with an opportunity to develop further those teaching skills associated with instructional excellence. The workshop is divided into a series of sequentially arranged units which are conducted primarily on a discussion basis. In addition to participation in topic discussions, workshop members develop self-instructional units, design courses in the medical sciences, and present lectures and teaching demonstrations which are videotaped and critiqued. The ultimate goal of the workshop is the attainment of “quality” medical education at the basic science and clinical levels.
